Students progress through the Fred Astaire dance curriculum system in stages, very similar to high school or university learning. Most are first introduced through one of our Introductory Dance Specials. This initial introduction allows the student to be exposed to the studio to see if they enjoy our instruction methods and for the instructors to gauge the student's dancing abilities. From here it's on to the Beginners Course, where students are taught the basic steps of a variety of dances. After conclusion of these preliminary plans, the student progresses to the Social Foundation stage, where more dances and steps are added. At this level, students begin to feel much more at ease with themselves, which propels them to learn much quicker. Once the student is well into his/her Social program they begin to be exposed to the main Fred Astaire Bronze, Silver and Gold trophy DanceSport programs. All learning stages are totally dependant on the individual student's goals and desires. Whether you desire to be the occasional social dancer or the advance competitive dancer, at Fred Astaire's your wish is our command.

BRONZE: The Bronze Traditional and DanceSport Course Plans begin the process of adding technique, styling and timing to the dance elements you have already been exposed to. At this stage the fun and challenge really begins as you discover how to lead and follow with any partner. New dances and step patterns are introduced and your confidence begins to soar. It is vital to remember that dancing is not just moving your feet! Dancing incorporates the function of your total body from head movement, facial expression, hip and leg movement and foot placement. The Bronze plans concentrates on these essential elements. The Master Social Dancer!

SILVER: The Silver Traditional and DanceSport Course Plans take the now highly experienced student into a more advanced level of dance where major emphasis is placed on balance, control and advanced styling. New step patterns are added to the dances and the student begins to understand more about the choreography and exhibition style of dancing. Distinguished by their versatility and style, Silver dancers are sought after on the dance floor. The Stand-out on the Floor Dancer!

GOLD: The Gold Traditional and DanceSport Course Plans are perhaps the most advanced dance programs attainable in the world. Here the expert dancer is exposed to the highest levels of dance proficiency. Gold dancers have the style, poise and confidence and a complete knowledge of all modern ballroom dances. This superior dancer has the ability to interwoven many dance styles to be shine on the floor. The Exhibition - Competitive Dancer!

WEDDING PROGRAM: Fred Astaire Dance Studios' Wedding Program is designed exclusively for the prospective Bride and Groom and their wedding party. Here the focus is placed upon the couple's Wedding Dance as well as the specific dances they will dance at their reception and on their honeymoon. Also welcome are the couple's parents and wedding party guests that are also taught the basics of an array of dances of their choice so they too can shine at the wedding. Of course, the dance lessons learned are theirs to keep well after the big affair and for the rest of their lives.

CRUISE PROGRAM: All aboard! Let Fred Astaire Dance Studios' Cruise Program get you ready for your favourite cruise vacation or island holiday. Here the focus is placed upon the student's vacation destination, as the specific dances they will dance on their holiday! Whether it is the romantic Argentina Tango, or the exotic Brazilian Samba, and the island favourites the Merengue and Mambo! We assure you that the FUN starts with the first step!

COUNTRY & WESTERN: Taught in both individual private and group lessons, the Fred Astaire Country & Western Program incorporates the most popular Country Western dances including the famous two-step, Western Swing and a variety of traditional and new line dances.

FAD or NOVELTY DANCES: New dances come on the scene throughout history and we are ready to teach you as they come into vogue. Dances like the Salsa all the way to the Electric Slide to the Lambada is taught during group lessons and if requested during private lessons as well.
